Put the database on local machine (server or client) and then click the Get Templates button. The operation is Read only...no databases are modified. If you have a lot of databases on the server, it will crank for several minutes...or longer. Take a coffee. The results are better if you run it against "Local" (especially at the server) because it skips over databases you don't have access to due to the ACL. The first thing it does is deletes the old entries in the database. Then it finds all of the databases and then all of the templates. It then categorizes both by Template name. The databases with the book are design templates, the ones with glasses inherit the designs. What this view tells you is if in fact a bunch of databases (e.g. mail databases) are using the right template. I also use it to track down error messages from the Design server task "both xxx and xxx claim to be the design template of xxxx.nsf" . Version Info: R2 is the same as R1, only uses a Profile document instead of a control doc. It also is more efficient in how it deletes the control documents and how it loops through the databases. Should run a bit faster! Note: R5 makes this application somewhat obsolete, as the Database Catalog now contains this information. Database documents now contain two fields (DbInheritTemplateName and DbTemplateName) which can be used to create a new view that looks like the one in our Template Manager.
