Is your courseware any good? Who is using your courseware?
We admit that we have not focused on "customer success stories" in our marketing or shown off our impressive customer list. Our reason for keeping this information somewhat secret is that most of our customers are not all that interested in advertising the fact that they are using our courseware, since they are using our courseware with their cover on it. We are the "source code" provider for their courses.
Plus, many of our customers are Education Centers for IBM Software (ECIS) (aka Lotus Authorized Education Centers), and would be very upset if we divulged the use of our courses. The strong arm of Lotus Education has been very punitive in the past, and even though the ECIS contract allows the teaching of private courses using non-Lotus materials, Lotus Education must think that if it can't compete on quality, then it can compete by increasing its power over its ECISs.
We have a fairly long customer list, most of whom are repeat customers, and often send us comments such as:
Very happy with what I see. Once again, you have renewed my faith in the universe's ability to bring forth quality courseware...
Awesome product, great material. I really like the way you have the whole program set up. I've looked over the Course Database, and a little of the Systems Mgt and Basic App Dev. With flexible materials like this, I could seriously make a career of Customized, Focused Notes Training.
It went well with marks for the usefulness/relevance of the course workbook being 1.6 out of 5 (1 = Excellent, 2 = Good ... 5 = Bad).
Thanks for providing such a great service and being so reasonable. Of all of the product suppliers I deal with, yours is the only one where I really feel 100% confident in the value/$ and in knowing we can work out sensible arrangements!
Fantastic. Unlike Lotus courseware, your exercises really work as advertised.
I recently took SA I using your materials. The purpose of my taking the course was in preparation for the SA I exam in pursuit of CLP Developer. Your materials proved to be the difference. While the instruction was excellent, I do not do Sys Admin as part of my job, so much of the material left me shortly after the course was completed. I spent two weeks studying your course materials closely before taking the exam, and am happy to report that I passed, comfortably (87% or so - 70% needed to pass). Since I do not do Sys Admin for a living, I attribute my passing the exam to the precise nature of your courseware and its emphasis on the important topics covered by the exam.
VERY PLEASED that typos and inaccuracies are nonexistent!
Best available self learning material for novice and professional developers. Course Material is fantastic. In depth coverage of all points and with good exercises. I think it's best available self-learning course material. This will really helpful to novice as well as professional users. Keep it up. Thanks for great work.
I think your method of distributing this courseware is exceptional! Being former Lotus employees, I know you realized that they are often late in delivering up to date courseware. Your methodology, pricing and promptness really fill a gap in the marketplace for current, quality courseware. The ability to download the files and customize them is key to enterprise rollout and education. I hope you are "cleaning up" with this venture. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
I have put together courseware and appreciate how difficult it is to do a good job. You have a great looking product and I am looking forward to a long-term relationship with you and your products.
The courseware is so much better that what Lotus puts out that I'm actually looking forward to teaching Notes for the first time in several years.
You get the idea.
The bottom line is that you need to spend time with the materials and make the decision as to whether or not YOU can make sense out of them and whether or not they fit into YOUR training style and requirements for materials. If not, then they aren't for you, especially if you don't have the time to modify the courses to meet your requirements. We realize that one size does NOT fit all, that our courses require an investment on your part that the shrink wrapped courses presumably don't (but don't be fooled!).
Along this philosophy, we also don't have instructor guides or attempt to tell you how to run your training business. Instead, we have a very open policy of evaluation copies, low costs, generous site licenses, and by offering a "try as you go" use of the materials, you can use the materials on a small scale without much risk.
We suggest that you obtain the equivalent course from another vendor and put the two side by side and compare:
the quality and teachability of the materials
the depth of coverage
your ability to customize the materials
your total cost for 10, 50, 100, 500 uses of the materials.
We are confident that you will partner with us to create your own best training solution rather than rely on some other vendor to force their pre-fab solution on you.
If your only goal is certification, we recommend going to Lotus/IBM for your training regimen, as their certification exams are based on the courses and the questions written by the same people who write the courses. If your goal, however, is to really know how to use, administer, and program Notes/Domino, then you should definitely use our materials!
